Controversial and ineligible sectors

To be eligible for Mimelis Lab certification, the company must not have significant involvements incompatible with ineligible or controversial sectors.

Some industries are generally considered ineligible due to their negative impacts. However, it is possible for some companies to manage these impacts significantly and obtain certification under certain conditions.

If in doubt, it is essential to contact Mimelis Lab before joining the label in order to obtain certification.

List of ineligible sectors

  • Gambling and games of chance: Businesses that generate revenue from games of chance, online or in person, such as casinos or slot machines.
  • Pornography: Companies offering sexually explicit content or services intended for sexual arousal.
  • Tobacco, nicotine and vaping: Businesses that generate revenue from products containing nicotine, such as cigarettes or vaping devices.
  • Weapons and defense: Companies that produce or use weapons intended to injure, coerce, or kill people, including defense activities.
  • Prisons and detention centers: Businesses involved in the incarceration of people or using the labor of detainees.
  • Fossil fuel industries: Companies involved in the exploration, extraction or production of fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas or coal.



List of controversial sectors

  • Charitable lotteries: Private companies, authorized by the government, used to raise funds for associations or social organizations.
  • Debt collection agencies in emerging markets: Organizations hired by creditors to contact debtors and improve the chances of repayment.
  • Nuclear energy: Companies involved in the exploration, handling, extraction or production of nuclear materials, including nuclear energy.
  • Mining industry: Companies that extract valuable minerals and resources from the earth for construction, manufacturing, or energy production.
  • Pharmaceutical industry: Companies involved in the discovery, development and manufacturing of drugs and treatments.
  • Recreational marijuana: Products and services containing a significant amount of THC and producing an intoxicating effect, not intended for medical use.
